After many years of campaigning by our group and Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant, it has been formally announced that work will start this December on installing lifts at Lichfield Trent Valley, with the full £2.3 million cost provided by the Department of Transport’s “Access for All” programme. Following the work, disabled passengers will have step free access to all three platforms. The lifts will also benefit passengers with heavy luggage, parents with young children / pushchairs and cyclists.
There will be minimal disruption to passengers whilst the work is carried out and it is hoped that the work will be completed by June 2019. This website will have periodic updates on progress.
The work does not include a ramp from the new car park to the London bound platform. Our group continues to campaign for this and is pleased that our MP is supporting our efforts to get approval for these overdue improvements to start as soon as possible.
