A million passengers at Lichfield Trent Valley

Over one million passengers use Lichfield Trent Valley station!

For the first time ever, over a million passengers have used this station in one year. Official figures just released by the Office of Rail Regulation show that, including those who changed trains there, 1,042,488 passengers used the station in the 12 months to 31st March 2014. This compares with a figure of less than 300,000 in the last year (2007-8) before introduction of the hourly London service.

David Dixon, Group Chair, says “This shows what our Group has long argued, that with a regular fast train service, the station would be well used by those living in the City and in towns and villages around. However, this success underlines the need for major improvements at the station. As well as step-free access to all platforms (now, at last, being planned), we need far more car parking spaces, and waiting and toilet facilities being available to passengers at all times. We are pressing for urgent action on all these things”.
